The VGSC offers exciting and challenging programs for females aged 4-18 and adults.
Girl's Programs
The main soccer season runs from September through March, with games played on Saturday or Sunday. Select teams start practices in August or earlier. House teams start practcing just before the season starts.
In the near future, a club level recreational season will be run in the spring and summer as more demand is asked for. The club continously looks for new and better programming for our child and youth players. Your feedback is always welcomed by the club's board.
U7 - U8 (VGSC)
The 4 Vs 4 format has many advantages for children of this age. The most important advantage is all the players are able to interact in the game and have fun.
U9 - U10 (VGSC)
The Mini program is for girls aged 8-9 where the teams play a 6 vs. 6
U11 - U12 (VYSA / BC Coastal Girl's Soccer League)
At ages 10 - 11, girls move to a Game Format called Super 8's a 8 vs. 8 program. Teams compete at a variety of skill levels against teams in Vancouver with the Gold Level playing in 5 District. The focus of the Super 8 program is on passing and position in a fast-paced format, and provides a great transition from the smaller Mini fields to the much larger full-sized 11 a-side competitive fields.
U13 - U18 ( BC Coastal Girl's Soccer League)
From age 13-17, girls play the traditional 11-a-side soccer game, with teams sizes ranging from 16 to 18 players. Teams compete at a variety of skill levels with teams throughout the Lower Mainland and in some cases, the Fraser Valley, Squamish and Sechelt. Games are played on Sunday.
Select Teams
Starting at age 12 (U13), all interested players have the opportunity to try out for Select Teams in Gold and Silver A competitive levels and, at age 13 (U14), the Metro level. Select Teams provide opportunities for girls with advanced skills who want to commit to a more competitive and intensive soccer experience. In most cases these teams practice 2 times a week with games on the Sunday. With the competitive nature of soccer these days, it is becoming more and more common for Select Teams to start practicing mid-July or all year round.
Tryouts
At the end of the current season, the VGSC will run player tryout sessions for the 11-17 age groups in order to place players on teams that best suit their soccer skills.
Women's Program
MWSL
Women play in the Metro Women's Soccer League (MWSL) Premier, Selects, Divisional, U21 and Classics (30+). The MWSL has 2 seasons with the traditional season being Fall/Winter and a short Spring/Summer season.
Presenlty the VGSC places at least 1 U18 graduating team in the U21 Silver Division. The 3 other teams are presently playing in the Selects and Divisional ranks of the MWSL.
The club is hopeful as the Women's Program grows over the years, players will continue to play in the club with their existing team mates and coaches. Also the club is looking at other programs to build into the Women's Program to retain players who want to keep playing the game in a club structure and have been members of the club since joining at U5.
